Upcoming improvements in ClickAppy to comply with Facebook’s policy which will ban Like Gates

Comments Off on Upcoming improvements in ClickAppy to comply with Facebook’s policy which will ban Like Gates

If you haven’t heard already Like gating will be banned from November 5th, 2014. Our team at ClickAppy is well informed about the policy changes and all apps in ClickAppy will be updated to comply with this policy by November 5, 2014.

According to Facebook:

You must not incentivize people to use social plugins or to like a Page. This includes offering rewards, or gating apps or app content based on whether or not a person has liked a Page. It remains acceptable to incentivize people to login to your app, checkin at a place or enter a promotion on your app’s Page. To ensure quality connections and help businesses reach the people who matter to them, we want people to like Pages because they want to connect and hear from the business, not because of artificial incentives. We believe this update will benefit people and advertisers alike.

How will this affect my ClickAppy apps and promotions.
One of the popular methods of running a Facebook promotion or contest has been to incentivize people to Like a Facebook Page using a Like Gate. After November 5th, you will no longer be able to do this. You will however still be able to recommend that people like your page while using your app.

Can I continue to use a like gate on my apps until November 5th, 2014.
Yes you can. You can continue to run your apps and promotions with the Like Gate up until November 5th, 2014.

Does ClickAppy have an alternative solution for the Like Gate.
Yes we do. We will be changing the optional “like gate” to the optional “Social Gate”. After November 5th you will be able to add social buttons and plugins from multiple social media networks to the social gate in ClickAppy. You will also be able to edit the text on the Social Gate so you can recommend that people like your Facebook page. Or if you prefer you can ask people to follow your business on other social Media channels (for example: follow us twitter or subscribe to our YouTube channel, etc). The Social Gate will be optional, so it is up to you if you wish to activate it for your app. App users will be able to click away the “social gate” and access the app directly should they choose to. In this case you can make it an obligation that people enter their email address in your app or contest for follow up marketing efforts. A section inside the apps will be added to give you the option to encourage & remind people to like your Facebook page while they are using your application. We will also include more options for promoting multiple social media channels within your apps. The focus for these changes is to increase the quality of the connections being made with your page, so that the people who like your page are doing so because they are genuinely interested in hearing from your business. In addition these changes will give people the possibility to connect with your business across a variety of social media platforms.

We would love to hear your thoughts on the changes, write your comments in the forum or you can email us at [email protected]
